Victory 1 Performance has expedited the process of manufacturing custom titanium valves and components by adding the highly regarded CrN coating process to the firm’s in-house capabilities at its Mooresville, NC facility.
Chromium Nitride (CrN) coating has proven to be exceptionally effective in high-stress racing applications as it both increases hardness and improves lubricity, which helps prevent valve seat face wear and maintains optimal sealing. It prevents “trenching” of the seat face. A superior valve seal translates into more horsepower and longer engine life.
The CrN application involves employing cathodic arc technology in a PVD (physical vapor deposition) vacuum chamber at low temperature. Benefits include heat and chemical resistance, increased hardness and lubricity, a lower coefficient of friction and oxidation resistance.
