Manley TensileMax Spring Retainers

Many racers and engine builders prefer titanium valve spring retainers because of their lighter weight. Others employ steel retainers because of superior wear characteristics. Manley Performance offers a “Best of Both Worlds” scenario with their TensileMax steel retainers that are lighter than standard titanium retainers and within 2-4 grams of special lightweight titanium retainers.

Manufactured from an incredibly strong TensileMax alloy, excess mass has been eliminated. They are specially heat-treated to provide a hardness of Rc 52-54 to prevent retainer wear. This exclusive process yields a part that provides the optimum balance of ultimate strength, fatigue strength, hardness and ductility. Additionally, a unique impingement process improves fatigue strength and promotes better oiling between the spring and retainer.

Manley Performance also manufactures lightweight H-13 tool steel retainers that are some 33% lighter than standard 10° steel retainers. They are heat-treated for provide a hardness of Rc 56.

A complete array of lightweight valve train components that facilitate higher RPM and power potentials are available from Manley. Check them out at www.ManleyPerformance.com of speak with a factory tech rep by calling 732-905-3366.
