CHI Memorial and the Neuroscience Innovation Foundation will benefit from 2022 Chattanooga Motorcar Festival, Oct.14-16

Chattanooga Motorcar Festival, hosted by Fifty Plus Foundation, announced today that East Tennessee’s CHI Memorial and the NeuroScience Innovation Foundation will be the beneficiaries of the third annual Festival on October 14-16, 2022.

Funds raised through the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival will allow the expansion of the CHI Memorial Hospital Memory Disorder Center. This includes clinic space for patient evaluation and testing, expanded community dementia outreach educational programs, and research infrastructure to execute breakthrough clinical trials.

The Center is now partnering with other dementia experts within CommonSpirit Health from around the U.S. to develop improved therapies for memory disorders based on lifestyle changes and advanced medical treatments.

Funds will also support equipment for the rapidly expanding state-of-the-art neuroendovascular and surgical operating rooms that treat life threatening brain emergencies. CHI Memorial is committed to the purchase of the robotic-assisted surgical system for endovascular brain surgery and the research needed to make remote patient treatment a reality.

“The generous support of the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival over this past year has already translated into huge strides in advancing medical care for the patients of our region and throughout the country. We are extremely excited and honored to continue this shared vision that will continue to improve the lives of countless people,” said said Thomas Devlin, MD, PhD, neurologist, director of CHI Memorial Stroke and NeuroScience Center.

The Foundation is currently focused on Alzheimer’s Disease and Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine.

“This year the Foundation has underwritten a very promising new approach to understanding and treating Alzheimer’s at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis called Neuroimmunology,” said Foundation CEO Peter Catalano. “Proceeds from the Motorcar Festival are being directed to this and to other high-impact research efforts.”“We are proud to again support CHI Memorial and the NeuroScience Innovation Foundation and their work on neuroscience research and technology,” said Byron DeFoor, founder of the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival. “Dr. Devlin’s tireless work is what inspires us to make this Festival a world-class event. The proceeds from this year’s Festival will help them serve the local community needs while making a global impact.”
