Genesis unveils high-performance X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept

South Korean luxury vehicle manufacturer Genesis has unveiled the X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo (VGT) Concept at the Busan International Mobility Show 2024 (BIMOS), which is taking place June 28-July 7.

The X Gran Racer VGT Concept is part of the Genesis Magma program and is the first Magma vehicle to be showcased to the Korean public. It also marks the auto maker’s entry into the high-performance luxury mobility sector.

The VGT, a derivative of the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept, features advanced aerodynamic elements and a mid-engine layout. Enhanced ground effects, active aerodynamic flaps and a flat underbody design optimize airflow and stability. The two-line crest grille lamp design, larger front splitter, rear diffuser and strategically placed canards also contribute to the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance.

The concept’s powertrain includes a front mid-mounted race-spec Lambda II V6 engine with Genesis’s electric supercharger (E-S/C) technology, delivering a combined 1,540hp and 1,051 lb-ft of torque.

The interior of the X Gran Racer VGT Concept features structural elements exposed to reduce weight, while a digital panorama interface provides essential vehicle information on a panoramic display. The use of carbon-fiber accents enhances both aesthetics and agility, and quilted padding ensures driver comfort during high-intensity racing.

“Genesis is constantly pushing the boundaries to deliver its unique values of safety, comfort and cruisable driving experience,” said global head of Genesis Mike Song. “As Korea’s leading luxury brand, we will always attentively listen to the voices of our customers, ensuring their desires are our utmost priority.”

In addition to the X Gran Racer VGT concept, Genesis is also showcasing the redesigned Electrified G80, which debuted globally at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in April, and the Neolun concept, a full-size electric SUV introduced in New York in March.
