Kistler to demo steering and driving robots at The ADAS Experience 2023

The ADAS Experience 2023, which takes place September 26 and 27 at Dekra in Klettwitz, Germany, will bring together international experts from industry and research. Developers, manufacturers, suppliers and legislative representatives will be able to exchange and deepen their knowledge about technologies for autonomous driving and active vehicle safety.

The use of steering and driving robots in safety testing is at the core of Kistler’s presentation at this year’s event. Jan Christopher Kolb, business driver for ADAS and AD at Kistler, will introduce live demonstrations of the company’s Robo Ride and Stop on Spot. Visitors will also be able to experience the robots first hand – with the CS-B50 and the CC800 robot acting as chauffeur. Data from the ride will be analyzed using the jBeam software and transferred to the platform-independent MaDaM server which gives engineers immediate access to all test data.

Visitors can also compete with the robots to see who possesses superior skills in target point braking. First, the human participant will perform the braking maneuver, stopping precisely at a marked point, followed by the robot which, Kistler says, will likely demonstrate its superior accuracy.

During real braking and driving tests, the robots’ skills contribute to the efficient generation of objective and reproducible data – which is hugely beneficial given the multitude of requirements for safety testing and the growing complexity of verification tests.
