Michael Printup Discusses Trans Am Growth and Future at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week

During a captivating session at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week, Michael Printup, Chief Operating Officer of Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH), reflected on the tremendous strides made by the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli in 2024. He also shared exciting plans for the future, emphasizing the series’ commitment to nurturing talent, delivering diverse racing experiences, and honoring its rich history.

A Remarkable 2024 Season: New Champions and Rising Stars

The 2024 Trans Am season showcased thrilling competition across all classes. Paul Menard captured his first TA Championship, ending Chris Dyson's reign, while Rafa Matos solidified his legacy in TA2 as a three-time champion and the winningest driver in the class. Rising talents like Kaylee Bryson also made waves, underscoring the series’ role as a platform for emerging drivers.

“Paul’s and Rafa’s achievements epitomize the strength of our competition,” Printup said. “The energy in the paddock was incredible, and the camaraderie among drivers, owners, and teams has never been stronger.”

TA2: A Gateway for Youth and Future Stars

The TA2 class continues to attract young talent, with new commitments from drivers like Boris Said Jr., Thomas Anunziata, and John Buffamonte joining established stars Brent Cruz and Dylan Archer.

“TA2 offers a platform where young drivers can grow, learn, and showcase their skills in cars that are powerful yet manageable for development,” said Printup. “It’s no surprise that it’s become a launching pad for drivers transitioning to NASCAR and other top-tier series.”

Printup also highlighted the balance within the series, where seasoned professionals like Chris Dyson and passionate enthusiasts compete alongside rising stars.

Innovations for Competitor Engagement

The series’ unique Pick 6 Championship, allowing part-time drivers to compete for a mini-championship, was a standout initiative in 2024. Printup emphasized its role in accommodating drivers with diverse commitments:

“This format acknowledges the realities for many competitors—balancing professional and personal lives with their passion for racing. It’s a way to make participation feasible and rewarding, regardless of full-season involvement.”

2025 Schedule: Iconic Tracks and New Venues

The 2025 calendar features an exciting blend of historic venues and new additions, including a California doubleheader at Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway, the return to Barber Motorsports Park, and an expanded presence at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

“The 2025 schedule is the strongest yet,” said Printup. “We’re thrilled to race at the country’s most iconic tracks, delivering unforgettable experiences for fans and competitors alike.”

Partnership Excellence with Pirelli

As Trans Am enters its ninth season with Pirelli as both tire supplier and title sponsor, the partnership remains a cornerstone of the series’ success.

“Pirelli’s support has been unparalleled,” Printup remarked. “Their tire technology is integral to our competition, and their collaboration has helped elevate the Trans Am brand to new heights.”

Honoring Legacy with a New Hall of Fame

Trans Am announced the creation of a Hall of Fame, with the inaugural class to be celebrated at Sebring in February 2025. Printup credited the idea to Tony Parella, noting its importance in preserving the series’ storied history:

“This Hall of Fame will honor legends like Mark Donohue, Dan Gurney, and Tommy Kendall, ensuring their contributions remain a vital part of Trans Am’s identity.”
