Secto Rally Finland wins inaugural UN Tourism–FIA sustainability award
Organised by UN Tourism in collaboration with the FIA, the programme recognises projects and events that successfully combine sport and tourism with sustainable development, with judging based on areas including environmental, social and economic impact, innovation, governance, scalability and long-term legacy.
The recognition also shines a light on the role Secto Rally Finland has played in the WRC’s work around sustainability and innovation. In recent years, the event has hosted Spark the Future, the sustainable mobility forum developed by AKK Sports and Secto Rally Finland with support from WRC Promoter and the FIA. The forum is set to return again in 2026, continuing its role as a meeting point for ideas around mobility, innovation and environmental responsibility during the Finnish round.
“Secto Rally Finland has become a benchmark for how a WRC event can combine sporting excellence with long-term sustainability thinking,” said Bernhard Hafenscher, Innovation & Sustainability Lead at WRC Promoter. “What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it reflects not just one event, but the strength of collaboration across the sport. Through platforms such as Spark the Future and WRC Promoter’s Beyond Rally programme, we want to help create the conditions for organisers, partners and stakeholders to learn from each other and keep pushing progress forward.”
