Swainsboro Raceway reopens with new owner

Swainsboro Raceway—the 3/10-mile dirt oval in Emanuel County, Georgia—has been purchased by J.J. Williams and his wife, Dana. They take over operations from Paul Purvis, who has owned the track with his wife, Debra, for 22 years .

Purvis plans to remain involved with the track, which was intermittently closed since 2019 but still hosting special events.

Williams, a former racer and owner of a logging company, announced plans to run a full schedule along with the traditional events, including the Pine Tree 100 and the Turkey 100. The 2023 season officially opens on March 3 with a $10,053-to-win Schaeffer's Spring Nationals.

The facility also features a kart track, which is going through upgrades. More details are expected to be announced at a later date.
