Toyota introduces new GR Corolla touring car

A new GR Corolla touring car has been revealed by Toyota Gazoo Racing North America (TGRNA). Based on a production GR Corolla, the race car features a host of updates but retains the 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo engine.

Built for track day enthusiasts and competitive racers, the race car starts as a production Toyota GR Corolla before undergoing a series of race upgrades to compete in SRO’s TC America series. Some of these include Alcon six-piston front and two-piston rear brakes, custom MacPherson struts designed by TGRNA, JRi dual-adjustable shocks and numerous aerodynamic improvements.

The Corolla’s drivetrain, power management and ABS are managed by Bosch Motorsport electronics. A host of safety upgrades are also added to the vehicle, such as an FIA-approved roll cage, an OMP fiberglass seat with a six-point harness and an OMP electronically activated fire extinguishing system.

“The opportunity to take the GR Corolla and make it a track-ready race car with the team here at TGRNA was an exciting project to tackle,” said Mike Norem, manager of customer racing, TGRNA.

New for 2025, the TC America series combines the former TCX and TC classes to create a single class to enable a variety of performance brands to compete at the highest level. This newly combined series provides a platform for both competitive wheel-to-wheel racing.

Further details, including vehicle specifications, pricing, contingency programs and more, will be available soon.
