World of Outlaws Rule Updates for 2026

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will implement several rule updates set to take effect in January for the beginning of the 2026 season.

The changes apply to areas of the body, chassis, and wheels in an effort to help support the longevity and health of the sport.

See updated rules below:

Fuel Tank Mounting:  Update rule book of 6 mounting points for the fuel cell from recommended to mandatory.

Chapter 3 Section 2, C.

C. A fuel cell with bladder will be the only type of fuel cells allowed. The fuel cell must be of one-piece construction of cross-link polyethylene plastic. Alterations and modifications will not be permitted unless approved by World of Outlaws Series Officials. Fuel cells must be mounted with at least 6 mounting points subject to World of Outlaws Officials approval. (Example: Kaeding and Triple X devices are acceptable others will be approved case by case). Any type of web material or tether will not be allowed to be used as a mounting point. All fuel cell mounting bolts must be safety wired.

Left Side Opening: There has been much discussion over this topic in the past, to define the left side opening when a panel is extended above the hip rail. Drawings are below

Chapter 3 Section 7, J.

J. With the addition of the new roll cage support bars referenced in Section 15.5 U. of the World of Outlaw Sprint Series Rule Book, the following adjustment to Section 15.7.J shall take effect immediately. The right-side minimum panel opening dimension of 21” x 10” (refer to drawing 16.7.J) shall stay in effect. The left side paneling may extend to but not forward of the support bar (refer to drawing 16.7.K). The use of an optional left side arm guard, as part of the body, is acceptable as long as it or any other part of the paneling does not prevent left side driver entry or exit at the discretion of World of Outlaws Series Officials. The extension of the body panel above the hip rail may not exceed the measurement per drawing 16.7.K. A maximum of 31” above the lower rail and a minimum of 18” opening front to back. This extension may not be used when the outward curved support bar is part of the chassis (Support Bar 1 & 2, Drawing 16.12.1 & 16.12.2).

Carbon Fiber Floor Pan: Carbon Fiber Floor Pans will no longer be allowed.

Chapter 3, Section 5, N.

N. Only steel or aluminum floor plans will be allowed. Carbon fiber will not be allowed. Floor pan must have a minimum of one  hole of ½” diameter or larger for drainage.

Wheel Cover Fasteners: All wheel covers are required to be bolted. Dzus buttons will no longer be allowed.

Chapter 3, Section 9, E.

E. Wheel covers must be fastened to the wheel with a minimum of three 5/16” flanged magnetic steel or titanium bolts and an approved fastening (nut assembly) system similar to the items below.

a. Keyser Manufacturing – Part # 100 7-101

Rear Axle Inside Diameter:

Chapter 3, Section 5, G.

G. Axles
2. The maximum inside diameter of the rear axle will be 1.8750”.

Proposed Chassis Front Upright Support Bars: In 2026 the use of extended front upright support bars added to chassis is recommended. This will likely be mandatory in 2027 after some input and study to finalize specifications. For reference, the below are the proposed dimensions and is not final at this time.

Front Wings Position and Qualifying Top Wings: There has been some discussion about these two topics. After looking at all the facts, there will not be changes to these rules for 2026. There are plans to develop a single, precision manufactured front wing gauge that will be used by all sanctioning bodies and tracks going forward.
