Why Use an XTS Belt Drive
There are distinct advantages to using Belt Drive systems over chains and gears. These advantages include:
Backlash creates harmonics that are transmitted to the entire valve train. The flexible rubber dampens these harmonics and smooths out the valve train for increased power and reliability. More reliable than chains because every piece of a chain is potentially the weak link. Torerable to thermal cycles, engine blocks expand with heat. This adds unwanted backlash to gear drives and can cause very unstable cam and ignition timing. These thermal cycles also cause fatigue to all the pieces of a chain that may result in a failure without warning.
Belt Tech
It features a carbon-fiber compound that stiffens and strengthens the belt and virtually elimates tooth deflection. Less feflection provides more accurate cam and ignition timing that translates to more engine power. The belt to gear interface is made from nylon with a patented polymer alloy coating that reduces friction and wear and withstands temperatures of 300° F. In addition, the belt's cord is made of high-strength glass filaments.
