Acura and MSR renew partnership for 2026
Amidst an active silly season in top-tier prototype racing, Acura and Meyer Shank Racing have confirmed they will renew their racing partnership, fielding two Acura ARX-06es in the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Both the No. 60 and No. 93 cars will return next year, and Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) engineers will continue to handle race engineering and strategy on the No. 93 Acura.
Together, Acura and MSR have won three IMSA championships – back-to-back GTD titles in 2019-20, and the 2022 DPi premier class title. They also won back-to-back Rolex 24 At Daytona races in 2022 and '23. Following a one-year hiatus, Acura and MSR reunited for the 2025 season.
With the No. 93 of Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly taking MSR’s first win of the year in Detroit, and the No. 60 of Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun following that up with a win at the Six Hours of Watkins Glen, Acura currently sits second in the IMSA GTP manufacturers’ championship with only two races left at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta.
Van der Zande and Yelloly are currently fourth in the GTP drivers’ Championship, and Blomqvist and Braun are currently sixth.
IndyCar Series drivers Scott Dixon, Alex Palou and Felix Rosenqvist have driven select races for MSR this season, as has Japanese Honda factory driver Kakunoshin “Kaku” Ohta, who made his North American racing debut earlier this year at Daytona.
“It's been an amazing season reuniting with the Meyer Shank Racing team under the Acura Meyer Shank Racing banner,” said David Salters, president of HRC US. "We’ve had two wins so far, we're fighting for the manufacturers' championship, and there's two races still to run. I'm so proud of everything this group of men and women at Acura MSR and HRC US have accomplished this year and I'm looking forward to building on that momentum for next season. We have had delight and despair running car No. 93 so far –watch our docuseries!
"This was a new challenge we set ourselves to grow at HRC and we love it. We love racing for Acura, we love MSR, we love IMSA and we love our fans! Heady times for sports car racing, to be in the middle of this era and entertain the fans with these super-cool GTP prototypes makes us very proud to represent HRC.”
"As we finish out a solid 2025 IMSA season with Acura, of course we're excited and already looking forward to 2026,” added co-owner Mike Shank. "The merger of the MSR crew and HRC engineering staff has been fun to watch and be a part of. We've all learned a lot this year and saw some great success on track. The Acura and HRC support and partnership is incredible, and we're ready to chase a championship next year.”
Driver announcements for the 2026 season will be made at a later date.
