Ferrari 296 Challenge debuts at Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli UK

The new Ferrari 296 Challenge was unveiled last weekend (June 8-9) at Snetterton race circuit during the third round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli UK. It is the ninth model in the history of the Ferrari Challenge, replacing the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo.

At Snetterton, current Ferrari Challenge UK and Club Challenge drivers had the opportunity to test the latest model, which is set to make its competitive debut in the UK series next season.

Drivers tested the new Ferrari 296 Challenge on track, examining its performance enhancements provided by the V6 engine, which delivers up to 700CV. This engine is derived from the 2.9L V6 in the 296 GTB but lacks the hybrid system found in the road car, which Ferrari says contributes to a weight reduction of 140kg.

Aerodynamically, the car generates 870kg of downforce at 250km/h with the spoiler at its maximum angle, which the company says is an 18% increase compared to the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo.

The 296 Challenge introduces the CCM-R PLUS brake discs, a world-first adoption derived from the most extreme motorsport applications, including Formula 1. These brakes are designed to exceed the performance of other carbon-ceramic brakes used in racing.

Drivers will have additional opportunities to experience the Ferrari 296 Challenge during the final two races of the Ferrari Challenge UK 2024 season at Donington on July 20 & 21 and Silverstone on September 13-15.
