Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli selected as official Single Make series for FIA Motorsport Games
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli has been designated as the official Single Make series in the FIA Motorsport Games, expanding the total number of competition categories to 27 for the 2024 edition in Valencia, scheduled for October 23-27.
Established 32 years ago, the Ferrari Challenge comprises two international series – Europe and North America – along with additional national series in the UK and Japan. The Challenge also holds the distinction of being the first single-make series to attain continent-wide ISO 20121 certification for its sustainable event management system.
The competition format will feature two 45-minute practice sessions, followed by a 30-minute qualifying session. A 30-minute Qualifying Race will then determine the starting grid for the 30-minute Main Race, which will decide the winners.
Andrea Mladosic, head of Ferrari Challenge & Corso Pilota, said, “We are very satisfied with this recognition because it testifies, once again, to the level of the Ferrari Challenge. I am confident that the fans will really appreciate the spectacle the races provide.”
Representing their National Sporting Authority (ASN), competitors will pilot the brand-new Ferrari 296 Challenge. First revealed at the 2023 Ferrari Finali Mondiali, the 296 Challenge signifies the championship’s inaugural adoption of a six-cylinder engine. The car has 234hp per liter of specific power and generates 870kg of downforce at 250km/h and incorporates technical features such as the S-Duct.
As customary, the 296 Challenge will be equipped with Pirelli tires specially developed for this model.
Antonello Coletta, head of endurance and Corse Clienti, commented, “For more than 30 years, our series has provided highly talented drivers, both men and women, who have made significant marks in the major GT car championships.”
Stéphane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group founder and CEO, said, “The addition of Ferrari Challenge as the Single Make series for the FIA Motorsport Games brings another exciting level of competition to the 2024 event in Spain. The best Ferrari Challenge drivers from across the globe competing for medal glory under the colors of their nation’s flag will be quite a spectacle.”
More than 200 drivers will compete across the four Ferrari Challenge series this season. North America’s terms started last weekend at Circuit of The Americas, while Europe’s first round takes place at Mugello, Italy, May 2-5.
