Jim Wright named team principal of Fortescue Zero Racing
Experienced motorsport executive Jim Wright has joined the Fortescue Zero Racing Team as it prepares to compete in its first season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Wright has decades of experience across Formula 1, Formula E and other international racing series. He has held senior positions with several teams, including Mahindra Racing and Andretti Formula E.
“I am excited to join Fortescue Zero at a significant moment in the company’s motorsport and technology journey,” commented Wright. “Fortescue Zero has a clear ambition to compete at the highest level, while also using motorsport to accelerate real-world technology.
“Formula E is one of the most competitive and technically demanding championships in the world,” he continued. “Building a new team for the next generation of Formula E is a major challenge and exactly the kind of opportunity that motivates me.”
Wright brings extensive experience to the Fortescue Zero Racing Team, which is set to become the first Australian-owned team to compete in the all-electric championship. The team is preparing to join the grid for the 2026/27 season, subject to approval from Formula E Operations and the FIA. Fortescue has acquired the Penske Formula E operation and will compete with a Jaguar Gen4 powertrain.
