Lamborghini appoints Andrea Reggiani as head of motorsport
Andrea Reggiani has been appointed as head of motorsport at Lamborghini, overseeing all areas of the racing division of the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm at an international level. The Italian-Swiss engineer will report directly to Rouven Mohr, chief technical officer of Automobili Lamborghini.
Reggiani said, “It is a true honor to join Lamborghini as head of motorsport. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me, and proud to join a company with such an extraordinary heritage and that represents passion, performance and bold innovation at the highest level. Together with the talented people who make Lamborghini unique, I look forward to building on this strong foundation and helping to write the next chapter in our racing history, striving for new milestones that will excite our clients, our partners and our fans around the world.”
Reggiani previously held senior roles at several leading motorsport brands. In his new role, he will be responsible for the development of Lamborghini’s motorsport models and the commercial management of racing activities, including the global Lamborghini Super Trofeo platform across Europe, Asia and North America and the GT3 customer racing program.
Erik Skirmants (North America), Federica Teneggi (Europe) and Francesco Scardoni (Asia-Pacific) will each continue in their roles as motorsport activity coordinators in their respective regions.
In addition to managing the motorsport activities of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, Reggiani will look after Lamborghini’s trackday-only Essenza SCV12 program.
Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, commented, “I would like to wish Andrea Reggiani every success in his new role. I am confident that his commitment will bring added value to Lamborghini’s motorsports activities, which for our brand remain an important laboratory for the development of new technologies. Andrea’s arrival in our family coincides with the debut of the Temerario GT3, and the initial development phases of the Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo which, from next year, will form the basis of three single-make championships in Europe, Asia and North America. I would like to extend a warm welcome to Andrea.”
Mohr added, “We are delighted to welcome Andrea Reggiani to the Lamborghini family heading into the new season, one that marks the start of a new chapter for the brand with the introduction of the new Temerario GT3 on the world stage, starting with the Sebring 12 Hours this weekend. His significant motorsport expertise and know-how were something that appealed strongly to Squadra Corse and align perfectly with the brand’s long-term strategic plans. I am sure he will lead Lamborghini to even more successes in the coming years, most notably in some of the most prestigious GT3 championships but also in our highly successful one-make Super Trofeo platform.”
