Antron Brown Reflects on Fourth NHRA Top Fuel Championship and Future of Drag Racing
Four-time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion Antron Brown joined EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week to share insights into his latest championship, his journey as a team owner, and the future of drag racing. Brown, the owner of AB Motorsports, celebrated his first championship as both a driver and team owner, marking a historic milestone in his illustrious career.
A Historic Fourth Championship
Brown’s fourth world title in the ultra-competitive Top Fuel category places him among the sport’s elite. Reflecting on his journey, he credited his team’s resilience, faith, and relentless dedication.
“This championship is a testament to never giving up,” Brown said. “The 2024 season was the most competitive I’ve ever seen, with several drivers in contention right until the final rounds. To emerge victorious in such a stacked field is humbling and incredibly rewarding.”
Elevating NHRA Drag Racing
Brown emphasized the growing visibility and popularity of NHRA drag racing, fueled by expanded media coverage and high-profile entrants like Tony Stewart. He highlighted the sport’s accessibility and the diverse range of participants, from grassroots racers to elite teams.
“Our sport is no longer the best-kept secret,” Brown noted. “When people on airplanes recognize me and talk about NHRA, it shows how far we’ve come. Tony Stewart’s involvement has brought even more attention, and his passion mirrors what makes this sport special.”
Inside the Cockpit: The Mental and Physical Challenge
Brown offered a glimpse into the precision and mental fortitude required in Top Fuel racing. Recalling the high-stakes final round at Pomona, he described the pressure of staging against top competitors amid unpredictable challenges, including a plane crash that delayed the race.
“Drag racing is more than just going straight,” he explained. “From track navigation to adapting to delays and environmental factors, it’s about performing at the highest level under immense pressure. Every component—team, car, and driver—must align perfectly to succeed.”

“Our Accelerate Program focuses on cultivating drivers and teams, providing the tools to secure and maintain partnerships,” Brown explained. “It’s about growing every aspect of motorsports and preparing the next generation.”
In addition to his Top Fuel program, Brown will compete in the upcoming Pro Modified winter series, staying sharp during the off-season and embracing the competitive spirit of drag racing.
Kicking Off 2025: Pro Superstar Shootout
Brown will begin the 2025 season at the Pro Superstar Shootout in Bradenton, Florida, an all-star event showcasing NHRA drag racing. The series serves as a prelude to the official season opener at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, March 6–9.
“This event is like the all-star game of drag racing,” Brown said. “It’s a fantastic way to kick off the season, engage fans, and show what’s coming in 2025.”
