NHRA’s Six-Time Pro Stock World Champion Erica Enders Shares Insights and Optimism at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week
Six-time NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Erica Enders joined the discussion at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week, offering a unique perspective on her 2024 season, the state of drag racing, and her aspirations for the future. Speaking live from Bradenton Motorsports Park amidst a flurry of on-track activity, Enders reflected on her passion for racing and her commitment to excellence.
A Milestone Victory at the Gator Nationals
Enders highlighted her triumph at the Gator Nationals, a prestigious event she had sought to win for nearly two decades.
“The Gator Nationals are one of the crown jewels of NHRA drag racing, and after 20 years, I was finally able to claim victory,” said Enders. “The atmosphere, the energy, and the specialty Gator trophy made it a career highlight. It’s an achievement I’ll always cherish.”
Despite facing challenges in her personal 2024 campaign, Enders praised the success of her Elite Motorsports team, which collectively secured numerous victories throughout the season.
Safety, Growth, and Team Collaboration
Reflecting on the competitive landscape, Enders stressed the importance of working with trusted teams and equipment.
“The longer I race, the more discerning I’ve become about the cars I drive and the people I work with,” Enders noted. “Safety and professionalism are non-negotiable. I’m excited to be out here with some of the best in the business, pushing my limits while staying sharp.”
Enders also expressed optimism about her team’s return to full strength in 2025, particularly as her crew chief, Mark Ingersoll, continues to recover from a double lung transplant.
Expanding Horizons and Remaining Loyal to Pro Stock
Enders addressed speculation about her potential involvement in Top Fuel drag racing, clarifying that her love for Pro Stock remains steadfast.
“I’ll never leave Pro Stock—it’s my passion,” Enders affirmed. “If Top Fuel happens, it will be an addition to my program, not a replacement. We’re exploring the possibilities, but only with the right funding and support.”
Sponsorship and NHRA’s Positive Trajectory
Enders credited her long-standing sponsors, including SCAG Power Equipment, Melling Performance, and Johnson’s Horsepower Garage, for their unwavering support.
“Our partners are the backbone of our success,” she said. “SCAG’s innovative products, Melling’s legendary components, and the enthusiasm of JHG have been instrumental in keeping us competitive.”
Enders echoed Brad Gerber’s sentiment about NHRA’s proactive efforts to grow the sport and engage new audiences.
“Our sport sells itself, but NHRA has done a fantastic job of bringing in fresh ideas and media to showcase what we do,” Enders said. “It’s an exciting time to be part of drag racing.”
Looking Ahead to 2025
With a storied career and an insatiable drive for improvement, Enders is focused on reclaiming her dominance in the upcoming season.
“2024 wasn’t the report card I wanted to turn in, but I’m ready to reset and deliver my best,” Enders concluded. “With a rejuvenated team and renewed determination, 2025 is going to be a year of progress and triumph.”
