Rare and valuable Ferraris featured at 2022 Chattanooga Motorcar Festival's Gathering of the Greats

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 4, 2022) – The Gathering of the Greats–Ferrari Edition returns to the Third Annual Chattanooga Motorcar Festival on October 14-16, 2022. It will feature an exclusive display of rare and valuable Ferrari automobiles during Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance. This year the Gathering has been expanded, with a selection of elusive Ferrari Supercars added to the classic Ferrari display.

The cars will be shown on a purpose-built display field from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, located at the back of the Westin Chattanooga Hotel entry area. It will feature Ferraris from as early as 1952 to as late as 2003. Half of the field will consist of models that were produced in editions of 100 or fewer. Two of the Ferraris are the only examples of their kind.

It is estimated that 14 of the 18 Ferraris entered in the Gathering are worth over a million dollars each. At least two of them are valued at over 10 million dollars each.

Four of the Ferraris were raced. Three were displayed at international automobile shows when they were new. A majority have participated in various prestigious Concours d’Elegances.

The Ferrari Supercar display features four of Ferrari’s most exclusive modern models. They are the manufacturer’s “halo” examples, showcasing state-of-the-art technology and world-class performance. “The Supercars are produced in small quantities and are allocated to Ferrari’s best clients. Many consider it a thrill to see a single example. Seeing the display of several could make a lifelong memory,” said Steve Ahlgrim, the Ferrari curator for the Festival.

“Each car has a story, and on Sunday a docent tour will provide stories on several of the cars. Additionally, most owners will be around the show area and often generously share stories about their cars. You won’t want to miss hearing about the mysterious construction magnate who entered his new Ferrari in a 1,000-km race on a whim and took a third in his class. The owner’s later disappearance after a government investigation into the source of his income is a staple of Ferrari folklore,” added Ahlgrim.

Not all the Ferrari activity will be on Sunday’s Concours field. Mid-day on Saturday, October 15, a number of the Ferraris will drive from the Westin Chattanooga Hotel to the Pace Grand Prix at The Bend for a parade session. “Nothing sounds like a Ferrari, and you’ll want to be at the track for that event,” said Ahlgrim.
