World Racing League Celebrates Growth and Innovation at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week

RJ Till, Vice President of the World Racing League (WRL), shared insights into the league’s unique approach, rapid growth, and future direction during an engaging interview at EPARTRADE’s 5th Annual Race Industry Week. Highlighting WRL’s appeal as a bridge between club and professional racing, Till discussed the league’s focus on affordability, inclusivity, and team-centric competition.

Celebrating a Decade of Racing Excellence

As WRL wraps up its milestone 10th anniversary season, the league continues to redefine endurance racing. Originally founded to provide a platform for drivers of all skill levels, WRL has become a top-tier destination for racers transitioning from amateur to professional competition.

“Our goal has always been to create a fun, fair, and equitable environment,” said Till. “From experienced drivers coming out of HPDE programs to teams with IMSA or FIA credentials, WRL offers a space for everyone to compete on a level playing field.”

The season finale at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) will feature a robust 86-car field, showcasing a mix of amateur teams and professional organizations. With a dynamic power-to-weight classing structure and minimal rulebook, WRL ensures a balanced and competitive racing environment.

Why Endurance Racing? A Team-Driven Experience

Unlike sprint racing, WRL emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and shared experiences. The league’s endurance format brings together diverse teams, from grassroots hobbyists to seasoned professionals, fostering camaraderie and competition.

“Endurance racing is about the whole team, from the driver to the person holding the fire bottle,” Till explained. “It’s a different kind of excitement that keeps everyone invested and builds lasting bonds.”

Accessible, Cost-Effective Racing

WRL’s focus on cost control sets it apart in the endurance racing spectrum. By requiring 200-treadwear tires and leveraging a formula-driven power-to-weight system, the league reduces expenses while maintaining high-quality competition.

“WRL offers exceptional value,” said Till. “Teams can enjoy up to 24 hours of track time over three days for a fraction of the cost of professional series.”

Looking Ahead: Expansion and Innovation

The WRL calendar for 2025 includes 11 premier events, with the league’s first-ever race west of the Rockies at Utah Motorsports Campus. This marks a significant step in expanding WRL’s footprint to the West Coast.

“Our growth strategy focuses on providing quality events at iconic tracks,” Till noted. “Utah is just the beginning as we aim to meet the growing demand from teams across the U.S.”

WRL is also exploring new formats, including “super endurance” events to complement its two-race weekend structure. These innovations align with the league’s mission to balance affordability with thrilling, high-stakes racing.

A League for All

WRL’s inclusivity remains a core strength, welcoming drivers from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. The league actively bridges the gap between club and professional racing, serving as a launchpad for aspiring racers and a proving ground for established teams.

“Whether you’re in a spec Miata or a GT4 car, WRL provides a place to compete and grow,” Till emphasized. “It’s about creating opportunities for everyone.”
